New Era Colorado Foundation

Campaign for Local Power

New Era Colorado Foundation teaches the new generation to be an active leader in their community. They provide the resources for young people to gain power in the political process. Also, they are grassroots and non-partisan. New Era is all about empowering young people to lead Colorado in the right direction. They do it all with one thing in mind: making politics fun again.

This Foundation’s latest fight has been against Xcel a large coal operated energy company whose emissions have been on the rise. Xcel wants to be the sole energy provider to Colorado. The reason that New Era is fighting against this is because they want Colorado to run on only natural and environmentally healthy sources of power. Xcel has been trying to buy Colorado’s support, but it’s not working. New Era has been banding together with locals and gaining support from all over the country to help them achieve their goal of having natural power.

The foundation's main goal is to create clean energy. They plan to do this by knocking out the large energy corporations. Then replace them with energy based only on renewable resources. New Era Colorado Foundation hopes by doing this they will not only help their community but set an example for other communities. They are being the change they want to see.

UPDATE: New Era Colorado Foundation won the campaign by a margin of more than 2-to-1. However, Xcel is countering with their team of lawyers and lobbyists. They still need help fighting against Xcel at the public utilities commission.
