College Student Turns
Campus Leftovers into
Meals for the Homeless

Food Recovery Network

Campus and restaurant leftovers and food waste are regulated. Ben Simon, a college senior at the University of Maryland, College Park, took on the task to change the complicated system impeded by protocol and red tape.

He mobilized fellow students to feed the hungry with the food leftover on the college campus, instead of throwing away edible food. His mission became the Food Recovery Network, an organization run by students.
